About Magdalene House

Magdalene House established in 1980 continues to be owned and managed by the Barrett family. Our home is dual registered with accommodation for forty nine residents, in an attractively furnished house built in 1856 for a well known local family. The home has been refurbished and extended over the years to provide accommodation of the highest standard.

Situated within a conservation area close to Corporation Park, Magdalene House is surrounded by pleasant gardens, conveniently close to local transport amenities and just a short distance from Blackburn town centre.

We are proud of the quality of our staff who are supervised by a trained nurse 24 hours a day and are dedicated to providing high standards of care. Through careful assessment Magdalene House has the capacity to provide the best possible care and quality of life for our residents whatever their personal circumstances.

On admission to Magdalene House the needs and wishes of each person are assessed, we respect each individuals requirements, and actively encourage their independence. All residents are treated with dignity, and are addressed in the manner they choose i.e. by Christian name or by title.

We respect our residents entitlement to privacy and confidentiality in all matters, and wherever possible they continue to be registered with the general practitioner of their choice.

Our dual registration enables us to care for residents who require minimal care, in addition to those who need more supportive professional nursing attention by our trained nurse on duty 24 hours a day.

There is a passenger lift and stair lifts to all floors which enables all areas of the home to be accessible to residents with mobility problems and those with wheelchairs, and the most modern bathing facilities are installed.

Magdalene House, by constant revision of standards, strives to maintain and improve the quality of the care we provide.
